We are all well-versed in Beauty Box subscriptions, but this week I was introduced to a different kind of subscription box, the foodie kind. Deluxebite does for food lovers everywhere what Birchbox and Glossybox do for beauty buffs – they send you a mystery box packed full of goodies for you to try. I was intrigued to see what kind of things would be in here, so I agreed to receive a box and lo and behold, I had a promising package on my doorstep faster than you can say “what’s for dinner?”.
At £20 a month for 5 items this is definitely one for lovers of gourmet and artisan foods who like to try new brands and flavours. On top of that, for every box you purchase Deluxebite make a donation to UK Foodbanks to buy a meal for a hungry family. So on to the interesting part, what was in my box?
My box had a caramelised onion chutney from Bracken Hill Foods, I love chutney so I was glad to see that there. Next up was a butternut squash relish by Raman’s – again, right up my street! The next item wasn’t really for me as a vegetarian of almost 18 years as it was venison chorizo by Great Glen Game. Still, I will definitely find someone who will give it a whirl (Matt) so all is not lost. Next was a bag of ‘fruit crisps’ by Nim’s which I find rather interesting and can’t wait to try, and lastly some black label coffee by The Coffee Factory which is most definitely one for me.
Overall I think this is a great box for foodies, so long as you don’t have any allergies. Personally I don’t think it would be worth me subscribing since I’m vegetarian and there’s a high chance I couldn’t eat one or more of the items, but if I ate meat I would definitely consider it, and I think this would make a great present for someone. It would be a great idea if the site had options so you could opt out of certain food groups like meat, perhaps that may happen in the future.
